Membership Benefits

Becoming a member of a fraternal organization can be one of the most exciting and rewarding times of a student’s collegiate career.   The fraternal experience provides students the opportunity to obtain management and leadership skills; which assists them with managing and maintaining academically successful chapters.  The national organization of the fraternal chapters requires their members to host programs that advocate, support, promote service to the community, and bring awareness to health issues, social and political issues.  Also providing another opportunity for members to gain organization and planning skills.

There are enormous benefits to being a member of a fraternal organization.  Business Insider article referenced, “According to Gallup survey,  Fraternity and sorority members are more likely than their non-Greek counterparts to find fulfillment in daily work and interactions, to have strong social relationships and access to the resources people need, to feel financially secure, to be physically healthy, and to take part in a true community.”  Read more

Membership Cost

All fraternities and sororities at Georgia College involve a financial commitment.  The cost will vary per chapter.  There are  one-time-only fees surrounding initiation and other fees that will  include chapter and inter/national dues.  Cost for each chapter can be obtained during recruitment or membership intake.

Most of our organizations offer some sort of financial assistance to members in the form of scholarships or payment plans.  It is strongly encouraged that students work directly with the organization of their interest to determine the exact cost of membership.

Here is a list of items that is typically covered in membership cost.  Please keep in mind that this is a general list and may not apply to all organizations.  However, the first year in any organization fraternity or sorority is often times the most expensive due to new member fees.
